Drupal 6 Review Site Adding Views And Panels Part A

Before launching into the views tutorial I'll take a couple of minutes to add a simple taxonomy menu navigation to our site, making it easier for users to navigate.

We are going to add an average votes widget to the bottom of the content that we will be rating. What will happen is that when two or more people have reviewed an item their votes will be averaged and displayed below the content.

The first step because we are using the garland theme is to copy it from the root/themes directory to root/sites/all/themes directory. Rename the folder to garlandreview (all lower-case and no spaces) open the theme and find the garland.info file and rename it to garlandreview.info. Open this file and change the name of the theme to Garland Review like the code below.

In this post for our drupal recipe we will be creating the two drupal content types associated with our review site. I have decided to set-up the site to be a CITY Review site. It will review cities and city attractions and will have multiple axes. Multiple axis just means that it wont simply be an out of ten score but that we will score several items, Environment, People, Access and Atmosphere. This will allow me to show you how to use some of the more advanced voting functions of five-star and hopefully show you a little more of the power of drupal.

On the desktop extract all of the modules into a modules folder, the themes into the theme folder and drupal 6.15 core .Have the two files downloaded from CKeditor.com and Getid3 respectively ready on the desktop .
